Have You Made New Year Resolutions For This Year?
Setting New Year Resolutions that Work
Did you know that up to 80% of New Year’s resolutions fail within the first few months of the new year? The reason they fail is that you can’t just decide to change the deep-seated ingrained patterns of behaviour that you have mastered often over many years. You need to align yourself with the resolution, and that means changing you! There is endless information on the internet regarding setting effective resolutions. Most of which are useless as they don’t address the real issue. They attempt to create change via willpower and the conscious mind. We don’t function that way. Real change occurs when you rewrite your deep subconscious programs, your databases (Gary Craig the developer of EFT calls these “the writing on your walls”) your mind and body uses to function in this world. Changing at a deep level can be easier than you think if you use techniques that work in alignment with how we operate. Some of the most effective tools that can create change that can help you are energy therapy techniques such as EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) and Mindfulness Based Inner RePatterning™. The reason for this is that they work at the subconscious level on the databases. Your databases are like your reference sources for your current issues, such as your behaviour, emotional states, etc. The most common New Year Resolutions revolve around fitness, getting into shape, involving more exercise and dieting. (2) How do your databases affect these resolutions? Take dieting; for example, you might have dieted previously and found it to be a difficult task. When you decide to do this as your new year resolution deep down, you hold uncomfortable feelings around doing this again. You remember how you previously felt. We tend to go toward the things that bring us pleasure and avoid those that create discomfort. Thus, you might find yourself self-sabotaging, procrastination, etc. Imagine how much easier it would be to follow a diet if you didn’t associate it with discomfort. You can clear the discomfort you feel when you think of dieting by using energy techniques. Energy techniques support the mind/ body in updating its information databases. They support the mind/ body in “living in the now”. That old discomfort is past information that your mind and body are still accessing as if it is happening now. It isn’t, although it may feel like it. When you tap, it assists your system in clearing the old information. You still know whatever happened in the past happened, but you are not controlled by it anymore. You can think more creatively and logically. You can also keep what you learned from your past experiences to help you now and in your future. How will this affect your resolution to diet? Well, you might decide that the old diets were awful, and you might easily switch to looking at what food would support your body in maintaining a healthy weight. You have created a choice.- Decide what you want, the best possible outcome.

Decide what you want, the best possible outcome.
“You have to believe. Otherwise it will never happen.”
Neil Gaiman, Stardust
Many people set New Year’s resolutions based on what they think is possible. The trouble with this is that it might not be motivating. Your current belief system limits it. Many beliefs form as a consequence of your past experiences in life. Your beliefs are very powerful as they control the results you achieve in your life. Beliefs drive your behaviour. The excellent point is you can change your beliefs. When you think of your New Year Resolution, look at the beliefs you hold around this. For example, around weight and fitness. You might have the belief, “it is hard to get fit.” Your evidence for this might be memories of you on the treadmill puffing away. For you to achieve your New Year Resolutions of fitness, you need to shift this belief. Otherwise, you might find it very difficult to motivate yourself to go to the gym in the first place, because every time you think of going, you on that treadmill puffing and panting away pops into your mind. This belief can cause procrastination. Clear the belief, and you will find it easier to exercise.
